The average number of persons per Hispanic household is 3.63 (the average number of persons for non-Hispanic households is 2.6).

Age Range

The U.S. Hispanic market is young. The Hispanic median age is much lower (26.3 years) than that of the general population (35.1 years).

 

Education

Hispanics' educational level is lower than that of non-Hispanics. As much as 43% of Hispanics do not have a high school diploma, as opposed to only 11.5% of the non-Hispanic white population. Marketing wise, Hispanics should be addressed in a very straightforward manner in order to obtain better results.

 

Income Level

As a result of their limited education, language difference, and minority status, Hispanics earn considerably less than the non-Hispanic white population. Despite this fact, Hispanics comprise an attractive consumer segment. In a way, Hispanics try to compensate social level image with their purchasing behavior. Furthermore, Hispanics tend to purchase brand items and goods typical of upper level classes.

More than 3 million Hispanic households earn an income of $50,000 or more —an increase of 26 percent within the past decade.
